The Auto-Reflex(Autorex in Japan and Revue Auto-Reflex in Germany) was the first ever auto-exposure focal plane shutter 35mm SLR. Sort of a big deal at the time.
The Auto-Reflex(Autorex in Japan and Revue Auto-Reflex in Germany) was the first ever auto-exposure focal plane shutter 35mm SLR. Sort of a big deal at the time.
But from its launch in 1965 to its discontinuation in 1968 ahead of the Autoreflex T , Konica included the addition of a feature that truly set it apart - a frame size selector, a clever little mechanism that changes the film advance gearing and drops in a mask over the film plane, letting you bounce between full-frame landscapes and half-frame portraits on the same roll.
Overall, it's well-balanced(if a bit heavy), the design feels perfectly of its time, controls are stripped down to just what you need, and most fall right where your fingers expect them. It’s clear Konica was aiming to make a serious mark here.
It’s deceptively innovative, industrially elegant and like no other camera out there.
I apologize in advance to the lab techs who have to scan my rolls out of this.
